Indian Exchanges (FIU-IND Compliant)

These platforms are registered with FIU-IND and comply with local regulations. They are generally the safest and easiest way to convert INR to crypto.

  • Binance : Now registered with FIU-IND. Fees start at **0.1%** with BNB discounts. Supports INR deposits via P2P.
  • CoinDCX : Known for being a beginner-friendly platform with a wide range of coins. Fees up to **0.50%**.
  • Coinbase : Has recently registered with FIU-IND and is planning a full re-entry into the Indian market.
  • CoinSwitch : An app-only platform with a simple, user-friendly interface for new investors. Fees up to **0.49%**.
  • WazirX : A well-known exchange with a dedicated P2P platform for INR deposits and withdrawals. Fees up to **0.40%**.

Wallets for Direct Purchase

Some non-custodial wallets allow you to purchase crypto directly and hold the assets yourself. Withdrawal fees are typically the **network transaction fees** (gas fees), not a service fee.

  • Exodus : A multi-currency wallet. Withdrawal fees are **only network fees** and vary based on congestion.
  • Solflare : The official wallet for Solana. Withdrawal fees are **Solana network transaction fees**, which are extremely low.
  • Trust Wallet : A popular mobile-first wallet. Withdrawal fees are **network fees only** and vary by blockchain.

Important Don'ts for Indian Investors

  • Don't fall for P2P fraud. Be extremely cautious on P2P platforms. Never accept third-party payments or use your bank account as a "mule" for others. These funds could be from illegal sources, leading to severe legal consequences.
  • Don't ignore the risk of account freezes. Banks may freeze your account if they detect suspicious activity, especially large, unexplained transfers from unknown sources related to crypto. This can happen even if you are an innocent party.
  • Don't believe in "guaranteed returns." If a platform or individual promises fixed or exceptionally high returns, it is likely a scam. The crypto market is volatile, and there are no guarantees.
  • Don't share your private keys. Your private keys are the only thing that gives you access to your funds in a wallet. Never share them with anyone, and always store them in a secure, offline location.
  • Don't use non-compliant exchanges. Avoid exchanges that do not comply with local regulations (e.g., KYC/AML). This can put you at risk of being a target for legal action or scams.
